2008
The first India-Africa Forum Summit, held in New Delhi from 8-9 April 2008, built upon the foundations of the historical relationship that has existed between the two sides, and created a roadmap for a structured interaction, engagement and cooperation between India and the African continent. The Summit renewed India’s commitment to Africa. Two historic documents, the Delhi Declaration and the India Africa Framework of Cooperation were adopted at the end of the Summit.
2011
The Second Africa India Forum Summit was held on 24-25 May 2011 in Addis Ababa at the seat of the African Union. The 2011 Summit carried forward the positive momentum generated by the First India Africa Forum Summit and further contributed towards enhanced engagement between India and our African partners in the 21st century. Two documents, the Addis Ababa Declaration and the Africa India Framework for Enhanced Cooperation, were adopted at the end of the Summit.
2015
The Third India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-III), held in New Delhi from 26-30 October 2015, gave a new thrust to the age-old partnership between India and Africa. It was held under the theme ‘Partners in Progress: Towards a Dynamic and Transformative Development Agenda.’ All African countries, with whom India has diplomatic relations, participated in the Summit. Two documents adopted at the end of the Summit, Delhi Declaration and India-Africa Framework for Strategic Cooperation, outlined a multi-faceted strategy for dovetailing the India growth story with Africa’s Agenda 2063 to spur mutual resurgence.
